About Jagor　(pronounced Yagor)

Ivana Brlic-Mazuranic (1874-1938) is one of the most famous Croatian writers. She is often called the Croatian Andersen. She wrote many stories and essays, and they were translated to a number of languages, even Chinese, back in 1954. She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature twice. However, it appears that only a few of her works have been translated to Japanese.

The attempt here will be to translate one of the pieces from the book "Stories from Long Ago" (Priče iz davnina) to English and Japanese, while at the same time trying not to simplify too much the old Croatian language. One or two sentences at a time seems to be a slow way to translate something, but we hope it will not only tell you a story but also teach you a bit more of the Croatian language and literature.
